Death of a Sennheiser...
« on: July 16, 2012, 08:40:12 PM »
Everyone makes mistakes, right?  :-[

Well, last week I bet against physics, and lost. Was shooting a segment for a tv show at a local fair, and decided to send a wireless mic on a carnival ride... Not my best decision. It seemed reasonable, the talent had the transmitter wedged deep in a pocket, the seats on the ride looked like they'd hold everything in place...

But then this...

Yeah, that's inertia laughing at me.

Immediately after I took that shot the mic met a grisly fate against something large and metal. There's also video of the moment it left this world, I may be able to post it tomorrow...

The transmitter took a nasty hit, and sprung a few innards, but the mic and cable actually withstood the incident and still work perfectly. Point for Sennheiser there!

I still feel my heart in my throat looking at that pic, though. Waiting on a quote for repair...  :'(

My condolences on your loss.  That is why I don't get on those rides...I don't want my innards experiencing what you gear did.  Of course there is the other reason that I am terrified of heights :P

Is that the g3 series wireless system? A single system is expensive!!!

It is, and you are not wrong. I'm hoping the transmitter can be saved for less than the cost of a new set...

That's a serious interlacing problem you got there, though... I don't think you shot that with your T2i.

Nope, shot on P2 on a Panny HPX370... And it seems I let the fields get a little reversed.

These things happen when you get in a bit of a hurry...  :-\
