Google+
« on: July 11, 2015, 01:13:31 PM »
I have noticed a couple of our folks are on Google+ and have been wondering what they think about it?
I have to admit that I am really disappointed in it.  It is clunky in nature, not very easy to maneuver in and trying to keep up a conversation in there is pure Hell.
I admit that photos are not as compressed at Facebook but damn...there is a ton (and I mean a TON) of pilfering of photos done on that site.  I have seen many many examples of other peoples work being posted as someone else.  The original authors have seen it too but no one seems to be willing to remove the offending person(s). Odd.
After posting, I immediately click on "Disable Reshares" and that kind of helps but it's just too bad that we even have to do that.
My second huge pet peeve about that place is sort of related to the first: some people share other peoples photos. While it's not illegal by any means (since sharing gives a photo more exposure to other people)...I can't comprehend ONLY sharing others work. As in NO ORIGINAL CONTENT in most cases.  God that aggravates me to no end.
Ok...my rant over.
What do those who are using it think about G+?
Take your camera with you dammit. You can't take your next "best photo" if your camera is sitting at home in the bag, now can you?

I use it occasionally but so far haven't shared any photos.  I just can't be bothered mostly.  I don't take those surreal/very-HDR/Highly Saturated shots that are shared so often so there's probably not much point lol :)

I'm probably one of the people you say are "On Google+" but I'm only on there because it's mandatory for having a YouTube channel.

I clicked on that link and got a pretty hardy laugh out of what you posted there. I love the brutal honesty! :)

Ha ha!  Pretty funny Andy, you curmudgeon.

I've resisted G+ mostly because Google seems to really want me to sign up.  They've nearly tricked me into it a few times.  If they want my info so desperately it tells to be wary.
