T2i Error 70, memory card slot?
« on: January 26, 2016, 12:15:59 PM »
Hi everyone!

So last night I was setting up my camera and it was working fine. Once I got to my shoot, I turned it on and got "error code 70: Shooting is not possible due to an error. Turn the camera off and on again or re-install the battery." I've tried everything! Every battery and lens I have, every card I have, formatted, no lens and no card, EVERYTHING. After looking around online it seems like its associated with the images, and if I remember correctly the error started when I put a card in the camera. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm wondering if it's my memory slot. I compared mine to my roommates 60d memory card slot and mine seems to have a big gold piece in it while hers does not, not sure if this is normal. I posted a picture below. Is this what the card slot should look like? I wouldn't be surprised if it's obstructed, I've had the camera for 4 years and use it all the time. Would love to find a solution or any information that could help!

This is a memory card read/write error. But maybe you knew that because you posted a picture of the slot already. My slot also has that gold piece in the corner, so I think it's normal.

I can't explain why changing the memory card didn't fix the problem, unless you formatted them in a computer first and it chose the wrong filesystem. Choose a card that has nothing on it, put it in the camera and format it IN THE CAMERA. That should fix it.

If it doesn't, then probably there's something up with the write circuitry, and you'll have to send it in - sorry.
