What did you last buy that you haven't used yet?
« on: April 06, 2015, 03:20:27 PM »
Ever bought something that you thought you just HAD to have...but then noticed that you haven't gotten around to trying it out yet?
I bought a Nero Trigger, which has multiple uses that I want to try such as: laser trigger for water drop shots and a light trigger for lightening shots.  No...I haven't tried either one yet and I bought it at the end of last year.
Now I realize that storm season is around the corner so I could use that excuse but I have no good reason for why I haven't tried using it for water drop shots yet, especially since that was my main goal with it.

Anyone else guilty of this crime?
Take your camera with you dammit. You can't take your next "best photo" if your camera is sitting at home in the bag, now can you?

Calvin Klein underwear.  I bought a new pair, but then I realized the old ones could be turned inside out and they'd be like new again!

I'm going to need therapy to get that visual out of my head.  :o

I bought a Light Blaster kit last fall...only tried it out a couple of times then re-boxed it to sit on a shelf :(  Guess I need to get it back out and play.  I did buy it for specific purposes, but those shoots are still in the works.  There we go...motivation!
We have done so much with so little for so long, we think we can do anything, with nothing at all, in no time flat.

Doesn't quite meet your criterion, but definitely on-theme: I had an automatic flash unit (a cheap one) that I had poor success with; it would frequently not fire, and I'd have a dark photo. So I invested in one of those Lithium Battery manual ones, it's awesome and it's made by Neewer. If you dial back the power to like, 1/8 then it can fire again and again keeping up with the camera. I've played with it, and impressed my friends, but frankly I've hardly taken any flash photos since :(

I bought one of these a couple of years ago. My thinking was that I'd be able to compose and take photos from a really low perspective as well as making some macro shots simpler to view.

Never used it. Not sure I could get back up again if I did!  :(
I used to be a very negative person... but then I went digital.

Wow, a lot.  Bought a Thinktank sling-o-matic bag from a co-worker at half price-never used.  Bought a Thinktank-Prospeed belt with a harness which I have never used, and bought a Lowepro lens exchange case to use with the Thinktank belt and harness-never used.  Plus, I have a few filters which came with the camera's I have bought that I don't use.

As I sit here reading all of these replies (glad to hear I am not alone!), I got as far as pulling out the Nero trigger out of the drawer and onto my computer table. At least it is within my eye sight now. I'm afraid we will be taking another trip starting Saturday so I won't be able to do anything with it until I get back. But...at least it won't be 'out of sight-out of mind'.

That would probably have to be my Opteka right angle lens

Same here. And if you recall, you made me buy it too !!

Yea, I really twisted your arm huh?  ::)

I just bought a new set (of 3) ND filters for my 18-135. I want to try and get a moving water shot here some day.
Some day = HOPEFULLY get it done before it becomes another "Didn't need it" item.

I just remembered something that I bought, that I somewhat regret, and wasted my money on. A while ago, I wondered what it would be like to have a proper, quality lens rather than the kit lenses. A friend had a $1,000 class Nikon lens. I bought an adapter so that I could try it; and because of the reviews and the weight of the lens, I got a proper metal Fotodiox adapter which cost about $70. The lens turned out to be crap, I couldn't get a sharp picture out of it. Now, I have no prospect of ever needing an adapter again, so my $70 was pretty wasted.

Similar situation to AndyCivil.  Purchased a Fotodiox  EOS-FD adapter to use with my old film lens from the 1970's.  Wow, the quality was very "underwhelming" to say the least.  But then those lens were purchased by a high school kid with limited funds. :)

Not even sure where the adaptor is located.

I just leave my fotodiox adapters on my FD lenses that way they are always ready to use.
