fun with post processing and self portrait
« on: July 19, 2012, 09:58:13 PM »
I finally had time to try some new things with my camera since I've taken a few weeks off from school for summer break. I originally wanted to mess around with some self portrait work, and some other ideas. This shot was not meant to be taken serious, just a means to casually explore a new technique.  I spent some time getting the facial expressions and lighting I wanted, but I clearly didn't spend enough time on the scene itself (Somehow there is some hybrid game of Hold em and 5-card stud). Anyways, I completely dropped my usual post processing workflow, and tried new ideas. After spending LOTS of time, I got some results I liked.

It comes off to me almost as an oil painting.

I do feel like you should have an advantage in the game, given that you have 10 cards to work with to their 7.

  • Old age causes memory loss. Or worse, memory loss.

Hell of a job on this!
I see another potential shot if you are so inclined: The you in the back being distracted off to your right so you are looking intently to the right while the OTHER you on the right side sneaks a look at your cards as you are distracted.
Did that make sense? :o

Just a great job on this shot sir. Kudos!  :D
Take your camera with you dammit. You can't take your next "best photo" if your camera is sitting at home in the bag, now can you?

Very nice shot, were the facial expressions rehearsed or just whatever your friends felt like doing?  There's a lot of strong feelings coming from this one!
