Liquid pouring into a wineglass...
« on: July 15, 2012, 05:42:17 AM »
I shot this by taking two wine glasses and taping them end-to-end and setting them in a large pan (to catch the liquid)

Then I put my softbox with the 430exII directly behind it to rimlight the glass. Once I got that, I made some koolaid and started pouring.

I had the camera tethered and had a remote shutter trigger attached. I shot it in continuous mode.

I tilted the camera to get the "corner to corner" effect.

Love it!

I would have liked to have seen the liquid to be a darker red though, there is something about the lightness of it that makes it look fake (ie while aiming to simulate red wine)...

Don't get me wrong though - that is an awesome shot :)

Thanks....I used what I had...lol. I would have used wine but koolaid is cheap and I don't get paid to do these!  ;)

Haha yeah that's what I assumed :) I was thinking - if you ever bother trying it again, just make up the koolaid in a more concerntrated manner...

Or actually - could this be something changed in post? I have never really played around with subtly trying to change a specific colour etc....

If you don't mind I might grab the shot and have a play?

I think you could use the burn and saturation brush tool to make the koolaid darker.

Assuming that you don't mind, I made the kool aid darker, a little more vibrant, and cleaned up some of the spatters....

Not sure if it's better this way - it's definitely a great shot either way!
