I found a heavy duty canvas and ballistic cloth seamed tool bag on sale for about 6 bucks NEW. It has compartments on the sides inside (great for cables/cords) and a flat bottom insert, nice shoulder strap thrown in. I want to build my own camera bag, and I intend to use foam also... want to build a sort of frame within the case of it (like the insert types seen on some messenger bag-type camera bags).
My understanding is that (heavy canvas, but not a rigid walled case) you want high density rigid layer towards outside, and a high density less rigid (maybe more open cell) layer on the inside. Then can line with flocking, velveting, or fur.
I was always warned that foam and some synthetic furs can (on occasion) build up charge and mess with electronics. Is that true? Since the elecs are pretty well concealed in a metallic camera body, do we need to worry about that at all? Is there any good glues to laminate the lining to the foam, and the rigid HD foam to the soft foam?
Thanks.
