I tried the elastic lens leash.  Nowadays, I prefer pocketing it in my backpocket.

Most of my lenses take 58mm, and for the 50mm f1.8, I added a step up ring from 52-58mm so I can standardize all my lens caps at 58mm.  Then I bought replacement caps on e-bay, in bulk of 5 they're between $1-$2 after shipping.  I bought the new center pinched style caps, and kept my originals as backups.  I haven't lost a cap yet, but its nice to have that assurance.  Also, its cheaper and one less gadget to worry about.

To avoid mix-ups when I'm around other photographers, I also mark my lens caps with bright colored tape.  This makes it more visible when I drop my lens cap.

No real use to me because I swapped from a neck strap to a hand strap recently and love it! No more flappy bits when I am shooting on a tripod. :)

I went from neck strap to no strap recently and I'm loving it too.  May camera is either in the bag or in my hand and it's much easier to use without a strap getting in the way.  I may pick up a hand strap to be a little more safe, but the camera really hangs comfortably from my hand thanks to the little ledge on the lens side of the grip.

Hi Chris

Have a look at these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Keepers-Holders-CAMERA-D40-PENTAX/dp/B0032UIGF6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1341563042&sr=8-2

Cheap, cheerful and effective. The ones above are on the UK Amazon site but are widely available.

HTH  :)

Will have to do...thanks! I don';t have any string or strap whatsoever. It's a miracle I haven't permanetly lost my lens cap by now. :)
