test for photobucket

It worked!  I will now use PB for the odd/weird/bad/test shots and keep flickr as a "showoff" page.
Thanks to everyone who helped me sort this out!
Take your camera with you dammit. You can't take your next "best photo" if your camera is sitting at home in the bag, now can you?

Cool, I'll check out PhotoBucket too.  I didn't realize it was free.

BTW Doodle, the shots of the eagle flying under the arch of the bridge on flickr are sweet!

Thanks Ocho. I have to be honest in that I didn't try to frame them like that: I was just taking any and all shots of the closer eagles to where I was standing. When I got home and starting looking at them is when I was tickled with the results. Also (for full disclosure), those were cropped to help accentuate that framing.  But...I still liked those too.
Thanks again sir. :)

Late to this, and did NOT see the deer, got a 404 error, page not found.  did not read all of the posts so I am assuming that you took the deer down.

Not that  you shot it and took it down, as deer season is over in Illinois, but that you shot a PHOTO of it and you took the photo down, I think....

I just make a smaller file and upload directly.  In LR change the size and DPI at 72.

Not sure why it's not showing because I still see it and it is still over on Photobucket....but here it is again:

Well, I see you post now from photo bucket but I was referring to the links to Flickr that got the errors.  I totally missed your test from photo bucket.

Oh yea, that deer photo over at flickr is gone. I took it down as it was very UNflattering. ;)
I wanted to be able to show bad photos/ accidents/ and just undesirable finished photos but I didn't want to pile them into my flickr account because I really want to keep that as a "showcase" for lack of a better term.  SO...I got photobucket for the Less-than-stellar photos. <clever huh?>

Very late to this whole thing, and you already have it sorted, but couldn't you just open another flickr account?

I have several, but only use one for my external stuff...

I never thought of that Zman, to be honest.  That actually would have been easier, and in fact, I still might since I do not have many "non-show off" shots (or bad/mistake/ruined ones).
I assume you have to make subtle changes to the username though, right? (one could easily keep the same password I'm sure)

Yeah - you just create it with a new dummy email address (that you wouldn't use for anything other than that flickr account) - eg I think one of mine is something like zbaildonphotobackup@blahblahblah....

And of course you can keep the same password. One thing about another service (eg photobucket) is you can reuse your same email address...

It's not a perfect solution, but if you are used to/like the way flickr does things, at least you know your way around from the start.

Haha - sometimes it is easy to stare right past simple solutions, because if something is too simple it can't be right!
