test of notifications
« on: November 28, 2012, 04:50:18 PM »
Skippy has made some changes to see if they can get Notifications back on.

So please answer this question and be sure to select Attachments and other options and the click the check box "Notify me of replies."

What kind of film did you use in the film day (for those old enough to have used film) or in current digital day...meaning what kind of memory card or "digital film"?

Thanks!

Now we shall seeeee...
Take your camera with you dammit. You can't take your next "best photo" if your camera is sitting at home in the bag, now can you?

I used a bunch of different films but I had a guy that could get me good deals on Fuji so that is my main film from the film days.
I'm an old film guy just playing catchup in this digital world. Help me out.

I'm certainly old enough, but I was far too mean to spend money on developing. My photography started the day I bought a digital camera.

I mostly used Tri-X Pan which at that time was ASA 400 but then it became a International Standard and became ISO 400 for B&W

Color favorite was Kodachrome which was ISO 64 I think.

No notifications yet.

I'm not seeing any either. I know that in the old days, when notifications worked, they took a while and were not instant. I guess we will see and maybe I will tinker a little more later tonight. :(

Reading though some stuff makes me think that when we set it to SMPT as I just did then it may take a while for notifications to come through. :(

You sure you are not Scotch?  An Irishman told me all you UKers (Thats United Kingdom NOT University of Kentucky) are all "Island Hoppers."

You sure you are not Scotch?
I married a Welsh wife, but I'm not Scots. (Scotch is a whisky, by the way.) Still no notifications, I'm pretty sure it's not working.

I imagine you need to set the email port to the secure one (I forget the number) rather than port 25. Did you do that? Port 25 is so frequently blocked.

LOL well I had trouble spelling it correctly and when it stopped underlining it, I figured I had it correct.  Sorry about that.

Well, my uncle, (same last name as me) wanted us to be Irish, which it could be, and there is a tartan for our clan if we are indeed Scottish (Did it get that correct?  I hope so.) and my older brother said we were Welsh.  (But then he might be saying that only to cause a friendly argument over the subject.)  The guy that said "we are all island hoppers" is named O'Leary.

I don't drink so tell me, is scotch, the whisky, originally from Scotland?

I am thinking that the notification or lack of is a Web Host problem.  They turned it off, at least the easy PHP version. That would mean contacting the web host and seeing if they will turn SMTP on or at least that is my drift on it from what I have read.

It seems that changing the port to the SSL (secure sockets layer) did work? Ryan said he found the setting and changed it - does that mean we'll get notifications now?
