I'll bring the thread back on track for a post...

My hobbies aside from photography are learning and playing with technology...I love gadgets & electronics.  I am also getting back into fishing which I sort of let lapse over the past few years but recent events have allowed me to re-ignite my love for it.  I also enjoy boating and any type of "liquid" water sports and have started biking a bit...I have a TREK bike but aside from that I could not tell you many more specs on it.

and now to slightly de-rail it with a story snow skiing...

Once upon time my friends decided that since I could water ski that I could snow ski.  We don't have any type of major mountain ranges but we do have decent skiing where I live because of all the snow we get.  We headed off to the slopes, I rented some gear and we headed to the slopes.  The whole time I kept insisting that the two sports are nothing a like.  "You can do one you can do the other".  The two are nothing a like.  I lost a ski on the chair lift, I got knocked out cold by the chair lift, I tumbled down the mountain 2x before I said forget it.  My friend then decided that he'd give me some lessons and we headed to the bunny slope.  It took about about 2x but on the last trip down I made it to the end without falling once!  I was so happy...I turned around to hear people yelling and screaming only to find that I just about wiped out everyone on the slope.  I have never been on the slopes again :)

Wintergon that's funny!  You're right, the two "skiings" are nothing alike.  I'm a horrible water skier but a very good snow skier.  Sort of related, one time it snowed in my town I pulled an old water ski out of my father in law's garage, removed the fin, and attempted to single ski down his driveway.  I too learned there are some major differences between the two disciplines when I took a hard landing on me bum.   :P

I never thought of that idea...I might have to convince my kid to try it and get some pics :)

Hobbies, I just wish some of them were cheaper than they end up being.  Photography of course. And since I have have retired from teaching music (34 years), I can now play music much more.  I play tuba and euphonium for wind instruments, although I have some skills on all the wind and percussion instruments.  And since I like jazz, big band swing is my favorite form of jazz, I picked up the bass to be able to play in my college jazz band.  So I have two electric basses, one is fretless and an upright string bass which I am repairing at the moment so it is in pieces right now, and I just recently acquired and acoustic/electric bass guitar (Large body guitar with 4 strings and a really really long neck. Check out my avitar).  I do NOT own my own tuba or euphonium, I am too cheap or we have run out of room in the house.

I also, since before I fell in love with photography, love model railroading.  I have been "collecting" stuff in N scale for years and have started working on a layout in my garage office.  However, that is on hold until I get my string bass re-assembled.

I have and like writing database software that  you access over the web and write a web based program for a music organization to run their music contests on.

I play electric guitar and collect music. I mainly dig world music, electric jazz, funk, and fusion.

I'm also an avid hiker, spending most weekends hiking in the White Mountains of NH, USA.

I love traveling the U.S., but haven't found the time or money to get out of the country yet (Canada 3 times last year).  Photography is my newest interest.

That's just a hobby for you??   :o

I have a black belt in bill paying.  >:(
Take your camera with you dammit. You can't take your next "best photo" if your camera is sitting at home in the bag, now can you?

Well, it seems like other than taking photos the next thing I do the most is paying for the home, and the bills.  Hopefully, none of my supervisors are on this forum and realize my job takes second/third place in my world.
