So, what photography-related goodies did Santa bring us all?
« on: December 28, 2014, 07:01:12 AM »
I didn't have much on my list for Santa this year but he did let me have a Wimberley Plamp II :)
I used to be a very negative person... but then I went digital.

Mrs Santa doesn't know it yet, but she let me get a used Canon 85mm f1.8 that should arrive tomorrow (Monday 12/27).
Now just to figure out how to tell her thanks in a way that won't cost me 2 Coach purses...
Take your camera with you dammit. You can't take your next "best photo" if your camera is sitting at home in the bag, now can you?

That kind of makes me think of the photographer who added a clause to his last Will & Testament which stated "For heaven's sake, don't let my wife sell my camera gear for what I told her I paid for it!"

Various Santas (Santae?) gave me the means to pick up a yn-560 iii flash and controller that I'm about to order!  Very much looking forward to having off-camera lighting available to help my pathetic portraiture skills.

P.s. Doodle, I think I could slip a coach purse or two out of my wife's closet. Maybe we could arrange a swap and convince them both that their adoring hubbys bought them new bags?

Yours too huh?
When my wife discovered a Coach Outlet mall on the way to our sons place, my life (and free money) vanished.  :o
Yea, I like how you think Ocho!
And Snapper...I love that quote. I fear the same exact thing. ;)

Santa brought me a Lensbaby Spark 50mm lens to play with.  However I have been ill and stuck in bed so not been able to play with it yet.
Never stop photographing. It is very likely that your best photograph has not yet been captured

A Manfrotto 681B Monopod (for use with my 100-400mm) with the 234RC head.  (Just posted a first use on Project 52, it was really windy so not sure if camera shake (photographer shake really) at slow shutter speed, 1/320 at 400mm, or high wind gusts, you can let me know)

Also, lost the rubber "grip" on camera for right hand thumb placement, so got a silicone "body skin" that covers whole camera.  Works rather well even with all the buttons covered.

It was a nice Christmas just so busy not much more than family snap shots.

Oh, I have a birthday coming up, maybe I should ask for sweat pants or maybe get my wife a Coach purse for My birthday.  What do you think?  ;)

For your birthday go with the sweat pants.  Loving mine I got for x-mas, although use them exclusively for around the house photography.  Why would ask for a couch purse for your wife for your birthday?  I wouldn't mind a couch purse for my birthday-got a lot of remotes for the TV, stereo and DVD to put in it.  Wait a second, what is a Coach purse?

In terms you will understand Suka...

Coach Purse = Full Frame Canon 1D or 5D for that matter

Regular Purse = Point and shoot camera at Wal-Mart or some other box store.
