That'll be me out of some POTM then - I quite like using HDR at times (my shot this month was one) :(

I thought that the statement from SkierBoy earlier in the thread had added the additional condition that clarified the OP's question, i.e. POTM entries cannot be made up of a composite of images from multiple scenes

IMO that is the only change that is needed.

I have to amend my position from Level 1 to Level 1.5 for this reason.
I think the "Multiple Scenes" is the actual key to this entire thing.
I think I spoke a little too quickly when I initially supported Level 1.

(I'm really not changing my mind like a politician.  Really!)  :(
Take your camera with you dammit. You can't take your next "best photo" if your camera is sitting at home in the bag, now can you?

I am right there where Doodle is. 1.5 so that multiple images of the same scene are okay.
I'm an old film guy just playing catchup in this digital world. Help me out.

After my last question on this  thread I wonder if I dare.....

Would it be possible after the POTM finishes have all entries displayed again?
C&C always welcome. If you want to try re-editing any of my shots, feel free.

So what is the difference between that and 'Shop Level 2? Do you want to say "Single scene, blend multiple images" but the images must be from essentially the same session (i.e. HDR and focus stacking are legit, but no coming back at night to get the fireworks) and you can move 'emptiness' to cover spots, street hardware and litter, but you can't move, warp or resize objects within the scene?

Yea, I kinda think that Andy's "Shop Level 1" is the keeper here IMO.

I think it was Zguy that started a thread for a potential competition for composite photos.  I would wager it would get some entries.  The question would be: how many would actually enter and how many would want to keep it up with all the other things we have going on?  I sure would like to try that contest at least once.
To be honest - I started up that thread to see if there was any interest (and there is a little) and I thought that it would more be run as a once-off comp occasionally... Kind of like the HDR comp that used to run...

I doubt it would have the patronage to run really regularly...

Thats exactly my take on the rules after all the discussion. Summed up with the statement POTM entries cannot be made up of a composite of images from multiple scenes but with some added rules about adding items or resizing etc etc.
I once prayed to God for a camera, but quickly found out he didn't work that way.... so I stole a camera and prayed for his forgiveness.

People are saying they want 'Shop Level 1 or 1.5 but then they're asking that certain things be included... so what is the problem with 'Shop Level 2? Because it seems to me that this is what people want. Perhaps we should start with 'Shop Level 2, and say what we don't want? Saying that you can blend images, but they must be of the same scene seems pretty easy to understand.

They almost have to be anyways with the format required for submission. (something like 990px X 415px I believe?)

And stop being a jerk.  :P

Haha very good point!

I have done that before - basically because of the dimensions I have had to add extra empty pace wither side to crop out what I want, so I have made a panorama it increase the area I can crop from...
