Reminder right off the bat. Your shot needs to be 990x415 to be in the contest.
=================================================================================
Got a nice picture you took with your T2i?  Submit it below and the winner's picture will be posted up as the website header for the month of May.

I wish we could throw in a prize but unfortunately, we don't have any sponsors yet.  Bragging rights are always fun to win though!

Also the winner will choose the next POTM`s theme!

Looking forward to seeing what you all got!  The poll will be added on April 20th for the first round of voting.  April 25, 2012 as the poll will be updated so that everyone can vote on their favourite from the top 3 that made it past the first round of voting.

The Theme of this Competition is Street photography.

RULES

1.  One photo entry per user (so pick your best one!).  Choose wisely as the first photo you submit will be the one judged.  You can't switch photos once one's been submitted.
2.  Photo has to be in some way related to the Theme.
3.  Photo has to be in landscape orientation (as opposed to portrait), preferably 990x415 as this will be the cropped end product (Photos that have a smaller width than 990 or a smaller height than 415 will be disqualified - the reason, enlarging photos degrades their quality).
4.  Deadline for entries is midnight MST on April 20, 2012. Update (Suggested deadline is the 20th as we will now take an entry all the way up to the 25th if you want to suffer from not getting your shot in when the poll opened up.)
5.  Between April 20 and 25, members vote on their 3 favourites and can update/change their votes up until midnight April 25.  From midnight April 25 to the end of the month, the poll will be reset with the top 3 vote-getters from the first round and members can vote for their favorite.
6.  Moderators can now enter a photo iryn the contest without worrying about conflict on interest, haha.

=================================================================================
Our theme for April will be "Street photography".

To make sure I understand the guidelines of the topic we are looking for the following?

"Street photography is a type of documentary photography that features subjects in candid situations within public places such as streets, parks, beaches, malls, political conventions and other settings."

That is a fine guideline but we are not strict and if your shot conveys that you was out and about on the streets and took a shot then that should do fine. I worry that we might get a lot of building shots as they will be shot from the street I am sure so I am going to just roll with it and let the chips fall where the chips fall.

Hey Parkey,

For my main line of work I'm a Sound Designer and I work out of Los Angeles,

However, this past year brought me all across the world.

This shot was taken at a street market in Mexico City. I was doing a live sound gig there and got to roam the streets and shot some interesting stuff,

Little did I know you're supposed to pay the people on the street you take photos of... I had no idea - Oops..

Anyway, this lady was selling all sorts of assorted weaved goods - anything from straw hats to tiny little cute pouches.

I asked if I could take her picture and she said "si".

Tejadora means "weaver" in Spanish.

Thanks, Parkey!!!

Let me upload a few so you can see a couple of them!!!

I don't think they were near what most people can take on this forum but I like to think I'm advancing in my skills ever so slowly :)
