Please PM me your shot and I will post it without your name. We are going to judge blindly this month to test it out.

Do Not forget. Your shot needs to be 990x415 to be in the contest.
=================================================================================
Got a nice picture you took with your T2i?  Submit it below and the winner's picture will be posted up as the website header for the month of June.

I wish we could throw in a prize but unfortunately, we don't have any sponsors yet.  Bragging rights are always fun to win though!

Also the winner will choose the next POTM`s theme!

Looking forward to seeing what you all got!  The poll will be added on July 24th for the first round of voting.  July 27, 2012 the poll will be updated so that everyone can vote on their favorite from the top 3 that made it past the first round of voting.

The Theme of this Competition is *Nature* with no hint of human touch.

1.  One photo entry per user (so pick your best one!).  Choose wisely as the first photo you submit will be the one judged.  You can't switch photos once one's been submitted.
2.  Photo has to be in some way related to the Theme.
3.  Photo has to be in landscape orientation (as opposed to portrait), preferably 990x415 as this will be the cropped end product (Photos that have a smaller width than 990 or a smaller height than 415 will be disqualified - the reason, enlarging photos degrades their quality).
4.  Deadline for entries is midnight EST on July 24, 2012. Update (Suggested deadline is the 24th as we will now take an entry all the way up to the 27th if you want to suffer from not getting your shot in when the poll opened up.)
5.  Between July 24th and July 27th, members vote on their 3 favorites and can update/change their votes up until midnight July 27th.  From midnight July 27th to the end of the month, the poll will be reset with the top 3 vote-getters from the first round and members can vote for their favorite.
6.  Moderators can now enter a photo in the contest without worrying about conflict on interest.

=================================================================================
Our theme for July will be "Nature" with no hint of human touch..

Does that mean no spot removing in photoshop of unexpected power lines, airplanes, etc?

Okay, I get where you guys are going so I will say what my intent was. "no hint of human touch" to me was that I want to see nature and nature only. Nothing man made or altered by man. I just want to see "nature" at its best doing what nature does.

Now I will take Rpavich's list and bold what I think matters to this contest.
Quote
1.) No arranging things in the scene that you are about to photograph.

2.)  No Post processing.

3.) No OBVIOUS post processing

4.) No human-derived structures in your shot such as buildings and such.
I am striking number two because unless you are shooting JPG then I just don't believe that anyone submits anything that has not been touched in post processing. In fact I even find it hard to accept with JPG but I know there are plenty that don't touch a photo.

Are we sort of on a same page now?

Skippy,

so what does "with no hint of human touch" mean?

That is kind of up to interpretation isn't it?

No...I don't think so...that's why I'm asking.

It could mean:

1.) No arranging things in the scene that you are about to photograph.

2.)  No Post processing.

3.) No OBVIOUS post processing

4.) No human-derived structures in your shot such as buildings and such.

That's why I asked.  ;)

  • Old age causes memory loss. Or worse, memory loss.

1.) No arranging things in the scene that you are about to photograph.

2.)  No Post processing.

3.) No OBVIOUS post processing

4.) No human-derived structures in your shot such as buildings and such.

I like these except #2. I usually run all my photos through Unsharp Mask and tweak the contrast/boost color (if either are needed).
That's why I like #3.  Do enough to clean up the photo but not a lot else.
That's how I would like to see it, if it were ever up to me.
Take your camera with you dammit. You can't take your next "best photo" if your camera is sitting at home in the bag, now can you?

maybe it just means no apparent or obvious human touch.
I mean if you can't see it, it isn't there right?

And the speculation grows...which is my point exactly....why don't we let Skippy define his own terms?  ;)

You all might be artists and are good with grey areas but I'm an engineer by trade and I LIKE EVERYTHING BLACK AND WHITE!!!  :o ;) ;)

But since Skippy said it shouldn't we let him define what he meant? Lol.....

We need to have boundaries even if they are broad...I'd hate to get going and post process the most amazing artistic shot only to find out that what he meant was "no post processing!"  :-[

I'm the same....I analyze everything and like to deal with constants.....problem solving is the only creative part of my brain. I don't have any artistic neurons floating around.....
I'm happy 'cause I have a good sense of humor and a short memory ...
