Great final, cracking images!  Well done Zubbuz.  Stumbled across this comp, picture 13 looks familiar :p

Haha cheers Anth!

That's rather amusing, it is a fairly classic shot :)

It's a classic shot. I think Zubbuz has done a great job creating a letterbox format from what wants to be 6x4 really.

This is kind of why I like ultrawides - given the crop ratio, for me the wider the lens the better to get what I want into it height-wise! This was obviously taken with my 8mm fisheye...

I agree, I actually prefer Zubbuz's version! :)

I agree!  Zubbuz didn't completely blow the clock face out :)

Yup, Zubbuz's is better. The framing is better too. I think sometimes we crop down to the points of focus without realising that setting the scene is important for making that focus relevant.

Congrats that is one hell of a shot.

Thanks very much guys!

While this might sound conceited, I damn well think mine is better as well :P I prefer how mine sits - while the bus trails are a very important part of the shot, Big Ben is as well and in the other one it looks messed up bunched up off to the side there... Also, on my full size shot, without cropping, the trails start on the lower right 'third' and exit in the top left corner - purely by luck given how fast I set up my tripod/camera and took the shot... And this happened to keep Big Ben relatively central in the shot which I prefer...

That being said, while the crop breaks a few rules, I really like it :)

Congrats Zubbuz - great shot - check out this months Digital photo magazine - similar shot used on pg 27 in a feature on top ten tips for taking beautiful shots at night - don't reckon you need to read it :)
Never stop photographing. It is very likely that your best photograph has not yet been captured

Cheers Tart :)

Haha, I'm always willing to read things to pick up any tips I don't know - while night photography is probably one of my best areas (actually, is my best area I think) I still have a lot to learn!

That is one thing that actually irritates me about that shot - I really wish I have quickly taken another one exposed for the clock face to layer in...

That being said, we were in a rush for the last train so I'll live with it as it is :) at least part of it is there...
