Architecture is the theme!

Please PM Skippy your shot and he will post it without your name. We are going to judge blindly again this month.

Do Not forget. Your shot needs to be 990x415 to be in the contest.

New rule for 2013. Any shot submitted must be shot between the time of the announcement of the theme and the deadline for entry. In other words, no searching your old shots for an entry to the POTM contest.
=================================================================================
Got a nice picture you took with your Canon EOS Camera?  Submit it below and the winner's picture will be posted up as the website header for the month of August.

I wish we could throw in a prize but unfortunately, we don't have any sponsors yet.  Bragging rights are always fun to win though!

Also the winner will choose the next POTM`s theme!

Looking forward to seeing what you all got!  The poll will be added on December 25th for the first round of voting.  December 28, 2012 the poll will be updated so that everyone can vote on their favorite from the top 3 that made it past the first round of voting.

The Theme of this Competition is "Architecture". That is anything at all so long as the "Architecture" is an important factor to the picture.

1.  One photo entry per user (so pick your best one!).  Choose wisely as the first photo you submit will be the one judged.  You can't switch photos once one's been submitted.
2.  Photo has to be in some way related to the Theme.
3.  Photo has to be in landscape orientation (as opposed to portrait), 990x415 as this will be the cropped end product (Photos that have a smaller width than 990 or a smaller height than 415 will be disqualified - the reason, enlarging photos degrades their quality).
4.  Deadline for entries is midnight EST on December 25, 2012. Update (Suggested deadline is the 25th as we will now take an entry all the way up to the 28th if you want to suffer from not getting your shot in when the poll opened up.)
5.  Between December 25th and December 28th, members vote on their 3 favorites and can update/change their votes up until midnight December 28th.  From midnight December 28th to the end of the month, the poll will be reset with the top 3 vote-getters from the first round and members can vote for their favorite.
6.  Moderators can now enter a photo in the contest without worrying about conflict of interest.
7.  Addendum to the original rules: POTM entries cannot be made up of a composite of images from multiple scenes. Single scene multiple images are however acceptable.

=================================================================================
Our theme for December will be "Architecture" no matter what your season.
This can be anything so long as you can see "Architecture" as an important part of the shot.

Not being the type of person to question or request further explanations on themes, but didn't we have this theme already this year?  Or, was that last year?  I'm getting at the age where I can't remember what I did yesterday.  So, please disregard if this was a theme from last year.

It was a last year theme. We don't have any really stringent rules for themes so I operate on the idea that it has to be at least 12 months before a theme can be recycled and my only real request is that a theme not be too damn restricting that people cannot play along.

I was shocked that with "Seasonal Color" that we did not get some Christmas Lights, dead vegetation, etc. I figured that one would have everyone send something in but I was quite wrong as I think 6 entries is near or at an all time low. Now to me Architecture can be anything from Welsmore shooting some Legos to skyscrapers in the big cities. I sure hope we can get turned around on the entries this month.

Skippy, I'm with you thinking there would have been a lot of shots posted for this theme since it is Fall weather with trees changing color, for a lot of people on this forum.  Sure there are a lot of peeps outside of our US weather, but weather/season is different around the world. My season color is way different from someone who may be living in Pennsylvania.

That was why I went for something a little different with the jack-o-lantern - seasonal (halloween) colour that wasn't just autumnal colours - that being said it was still a poor effort on my part :P

Thankfully the vote looks delayed this month with festivities getting in the way, so have managed to sneak a late entry in.
C&C always welcome. If you want to try re-editing any of my shots, feel free.

Hope you are right about this months POTM comp. being delayed, because haven't seen any update about the dead line or when voting starts.

Yes it is delayed due to my error. Out of town and forgot my external hard drive with the data. Having said that, I only had three shots. I will have round one up tomorrow night. That is Monday night. Unless I have five or more shots I will only do one round of voting. So if you still want to get a shot in for this month then you have about 24 hours to do so.

There is still some time. No idea how much time. The problem is my internet connection which never ever ever goes out is out. It has been out since last night at about 8 o'clock. Once my internet connection is up I will have the poll up but I am still accepting any late entries at this point.

I'm really disappointed that I wasn't able to find anythng that felt photo worthy.  I tried to stretch my thoughts on the subject to find something but between being sick all the time, crappy weather, bad light and a nasty ice storm, I didn't find much inspiration out there.  Good luck entrants!

The vote is out and this is going to be one round only. I mean with only four shots I just can't see the rational to eliminate one so when you vote please choose the ONE shot that you like best. Oh and bump and spread the word.

  • Old age causes memory loss. Or worse, memory loss.
Voted and duly bumped as per request of the Grand Poobahs of our beloved forums.  ;D

(how's that for overkill?)
Take your camera with you dammit. You can't take your next "best photo" if your camera is sitting at home in the bag, now can you?

After this one is completed, will we have a Photo of the Year competition with the 12 winners?

Haha - that being said, there were far better ones taken this year than my ones that won :)

I honestly didn't think about that - it's surprising to think that I won a quarter of them  :o
