Video of the Month Competition - Begins June 1, 2011
« on: May 06, 2011, 01:03:36 PM »
Let's see how much interest we get for this.  Here's what I propose.  I (or someone not in the competition) will choose a theme, object, and action.  All 3 elements have to somehow be incorporated into your video.   The theme/object/action will be chosen on June 1, 2011 and members will have 1 month to create a short film (no longer than 3 minutes, no minimum length).

We'll vote the same way as we do with the photo of the month competition (via poll).  Since this requires a lot more effort from members than the photo of the month competition, i'll try extra hard to find some kind of prize, but I can't promise anything yet.

More rules to follow as we near June 1, 2011.

Sounds amazing. If you can't find a prize maybe the winner could get a custom title. Like "VotM Winner June" or sth else

If I can find a prize, I'll probably make this one an annual competition and give everyone a month to write (if necessary), film, and edit the film.  I might just give away my Hague MMC steadicam since I never use it anymore as the prize.  There will be an important condition though were people entering will require a post count greather than 25 or something.  I'll provide more details over the coming week or two.

Wow, I would kill for the hague.  I've been a member of Hv20.com. They do like monthly competitions, 3-5 minute shorts.  Never any prizes, but you do get a banner for your signature saying that you won the contest and what month you won it for.  Just a thought, annually would be a long time

I think it should be a monthly competition, but only annually would big prizes be given out. Or maybe don't tell people WHICH month the prize will be given, to encourage people to do it as much as they can.

Yes I want in, I've been using my T2i to make video songs on YouTube but I've been wanting to branch out to some projects more like a short film, I'll be checking back!
