camera freezing after picture taken
« on: September 09, 2013, 11:15:32 AM »
Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
I power on my camera and sometimes the lcd screen will have lines going up and down. When I turn off the camera nothing happens until I remove the battery. Now there are times that everything works fine when I power it on until I take a picture then the lcd screen gets the lines, the red light in the bottom corner of the camera stays on, and when I turn it off again nothing happens until I remove the battery.

Has the camera been dropped or got wet. It sounds like a big problem. Try a different battery maybe.

That's not sounding good from the perspective of being able to fix it. I'd start by clearing the settings. If you can get it powered up, turn the dial to P mode and in the menu choose the three-dot settings tab; there's a "clear settings" option in there. Not much chance of it working, but it's easy. (It'll probably reset the image counter, so when you turn it on, make sure that the last photo you took is still on the card, then it'll start off from the right place again instead of going back to zero.)

Next step will probably be to "update" (read: fix) the firmware.

Also, did the camera get wet, especially if it might not have dried out yet?

I'm almost positive it's been dropped :(

It sounds like a big problem. May not be fixable. I would take it to a local place and see how much they want to fix it.
