My new T2i won't take a photo
« on: January 07, 2011, 10:20:11 AM »
I bought my t2i for a time lapse project and have it in a pelican case where it is supplied AC power from an extension chord.  I've programmed an intervalometer to take 720 pics/day for the last month and everything has gone smoothly.  Recently the power was shut off in the building, thus turning my camera off for a wk.  When the power was restored to the building my camera would not take a picture when I turned it back on.  The camera turned on properly, the auto focus worked, but the shutter would not release to take a picture.  I know the average shutter life span of the t2i is around 100,000 photos and I'm nowhere near there.  Wondering what might be the problem and any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

Did you try to start the Kamera witout the ML-Firmware SD-Card? Maybe you should save you fotos and format the SD card.

do you mean turning the camera on without the SD card in the camera?  I formatted the SD card in the camera but didn't take it out.  Since I need the SD card in the camera to take the time lapse, how will taking the card out help?

Hmmm, this is a strange one.  Have you tried a different SDHC card?  Can you try a different shooting mode just to test (ex. timer or continuous)?  Can you also try a different picture mode (ex. Av or P)?  Does video work?
