Good news:  It has shipped to my home.
Bad news: It shows the arrival date as the 21st.  >:(

Now that I have a definite date...I HATE waiting.

Take your camera with you dammit. You can't take your next "best photo" if your camera is sitting at home in the bag, now can you?

I thought maybe they tied a couple of pigeons together but they would have to fight headwinds the entire way...From Japan.

It probably would have made it Monday but MLK gave the shipping companies a holiday.

I totally forgot about that.  Is it this coming Monday then?  <grumbles even more>

EDIT:  I just checked.  They recognize that holiday but do not observe it.  (if they did it would have been Wednesday?!)

The weekend before something like this comes is always the longest weekend ever. I always feel like that.

is it here????

Yessir, it came in tonight.

1st off: it's heavy.  I knew this from the specs but I had no idea how it would feel in hand. Heavy.  Since it was too dark to try anything outdoors, I just focused on a spot in the kitchen and zoomed in to see how much closer I can get between my old 200mm length and 600.  Its a huge difference (well duh!).
But...and this is 2nd: the weight has me concerned now when I go to hand hold on some of my birding shots. I bet I screw up all of my initial shots until I get the hang of this.   This might have to be a monopod/tripod only type of lens?
I honestly don't know.
I will be testing this briefly tomorrow (can't stay out too long in the cold ya know!) and will post here when I have something to compare with.
