Don't beat yourself up too much Doodle....you probably got a dud copy. It shouldn't be that complicated to get a decent shot and it's not your first time out with a camera. Just hope you can return it and get another one fairly quickly.

That has unfortunately been the history of Tamron lenses.  Some are good and some aren't.  I was really hoping their QC had improved when this one was announced.

Thanks but I'm not willing to call it a dud copy just yet. It can still be me.  I'll try to work with it for a few more days.  If I can't get anything sharp, I'll send it back.
I just want to rule out the "Randy Retard Rule" before claiming it's the lens.
Take your camera with you dammit. You can't take your next "best photo" if your camera is sitting at home in the bag, now can you?

Well I had to admit defeat (or a bad copy).  I sent back the Tamron as I never really got crisp shots like I was used to with my 70-200L.
I also checked the B&H site and found a used Canon 100-400L for sale so I bought it instead of just replacing the Tamron.
So who all uses this lens?  I know Suka does and gets freaking amazing results.  I just don't remember who else uses it and my question to them is: are you still happy with it?  And if there are multiple people using it...who is using it on a t2i?  (I know Suka upgraded so he don't count) ;)
According to UPS tracking, it should be here by end of day on Monday.

I first used the 100-400 on the t2i before the 70D.
It's sharp but does need good light to get the best out of it.
I once prayed to God for a camera, but quickly found out he didn't work that way.... so I stole a camera and prayed for his forgiveness.

I still count even though I'm using the 60D.  It's not much different from the T2i, which I still use on occasion or the 6D full frame ( I don't have).  When you get that lens be patient and learn how to use it with your body (camera).

To date the best bird pics I have ever taken have come from using that combo.  I rented it last summer and it's what I was going to buy unless you came back and said the Tamron was the new king of super telephotos.
