Got any good phone pics? *Competition*
« on: July 27, 2013, 11:55:26 AM »
Since, my camera has been in the shop (I miss that thing!), I've been relying a lot on my little phone. It is by no means the quality of like a iPhone 5...but it can hold it's own! I was wondering if you all would like to share some of your cell pics, and we can add a poll.

Interested?

Haha - my phone (the Galaxy Nexus) is a brilliant phone for its age, but even for its time it had a shocking camera!

I barely use it unless I have NO other option... So even if I did post any, you would never have any idea of what it is of :P

"ha ha" was my reaction too  :P

But I'll take this opportunity to mention something that occurred to me. I think everyone knows I dislike Apple stuff on principle, but I know a neat app when I see one, and a friend showed me that his i<something> had a pano-stitch feature built in to his camera function. It allowed to make a wide-angle shot of a room, providing things were stationary. I'm thinking that a phone of this type could actually take a pretty good landscape/scenery shot: anyone with such a device up to the challenge?

Yeah, virtually all smartphones have that these days. It was baked into the stock Android camera app back when it jumped to 4 (I think), and there are other apps available on both Android and iOS, not sure about WP, haven't met either of the two people who have bought it :P

That's actually the only camera function I used with any regularity... Here are a couple where I used it to create vertoramas in Sagrada Familia...

Bragger.. ::)

I like the idea of this phony *pun intended* challenge.

I'll give it a shot here soon!
Take your camera with you dammit. You can't take your next "best photo" if your camera is sitting at home in the bag, now can you?

I don't use it much other than for quick family shots but I will be honest and tell you that I am quite impressed with what my Samsung Galaxy Note II can do. Oh and it will also do the Pano Stitch as well as HDR and it will even let you put it on manual. To be honest, this smart phone is to smart for me. :)
I'm an old film guy just playing catchup in this digital world. Help me out.

Here's one I took a few years back when I went to Brixton Academy to see an old rock band I used to love in College.
It was a great night and I was really happy with the iphone edited pop art type shot.  All done on the phone in 30 seconds.

I once prayed to God for a camera, but quickly found out he didn't work that way.... so I stole a camera and prayed for his forgiveness.

Love the plane shot Skier! Not fond of the edging, but the shot itself is cool!

Sometimes the trusty mobile is the only thing we have, especially at 2am in a bar somewhere in the French Alps after drinking since lunch. The emotion and feel of a shot is sometimes better represented in that drunken mobile snap.

What else do you do when the bar gets lit on fire while your waiting for a drink? Take a photo of course ;)

AND no, France doesn't have such a thing as "Health & Safety".... Thank god!
