Anyone know how to view thumbnails of *.CR2 files in Windows 7 64-bit?

I am looking to view these in explorer windows, not in lightroom or anything like that.

I was able to do it with x86 but what about 64?

Googling it looks like there's some kind of codec you can download for it, not entirely sure.  This was something I thought I wanted back in the day, then just forgot.  If I'm wanting to look at thumbnails it's probably because I'm already getting ready to develop or edit something so I have other software with thumbnails already running.

But it is a good question, let us know if you have any luck,
I quit my job, bought an RV and am traveling North America, capturing it with my t2i

I went to my file of program downloads and searched on RAW.  I found:  FastPictureViewerCodecPack.msi and  RAWImageViewerSetup.exe.   I find RAW Image Viewer installed on my system.   When I call up Fast Picture Viewer Codec I find it "forces use of embedded JPEG previews for Adobe PNG and Canon CRW and CR2".  This codec is from Microsoft.

My Windows 7 64-bit system allows me to view thumbnails and images for RAW and  PSD.  Unfortunately I don’t know how to track back and find out which program was used to open the thumbnails.  I would try the MS codec first.

I will put a little more effort into it.

Okay this is what I know. First, there is a codec to download and I know that mine came from Canon but it was a microsoft program that went hunting for it. I am almost certain it was Microsoft Picture Viewer but I can not find that on my computer. Maybe it was Windows Live Photo Gallery. Either way I know that it happened for me when I installed a Microsoft photo tool and as soon as I went to open a cr2 it directed me to search for the codec that it found at Canon and installed.

I wish I could remember better but that is it for me.

I have Windows Photo Live Gallery on my system, but to the best of my I have knowledge I have never used it.

I have not downloaded Canon software onto my system except for Canon Drivers, or at least no software which after being downloaded contains Canon in its name.

I do not have Microsoft Picture Viewer on my system.

Raw Image Viewer gives me thumbnails of Canon RAW photos.  I suggest you visit this site.  It seems to have all you need to view RAW in thumbnails: http://downloadsquad.switched.com/2009/10/21/raw-image-support-windows/.

I found this:
http://www.fastpictureviewer.com/codecs/

I found an old free version of it and it works really good. Although it doesn't show the Exif data.

Finally, see the following link for a solution from Microsoft...

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=26829

I can confirm that the previews now work in Windows Explorer on my Windows 7 64 bit machine.

It says MicrosoftCodecPack_amd64.msi

I have an Core 2 Quad, is that compatible? I guess the part that says amd is throwing me off. Nice find though.
