New camera bag.
« on: June 12, 2015, 07:59:29 PM »
Well, with my gear sort of overflowing my present bag, I decided to get a little help.
My quandary (sort of) was whether to get one ginormous bag or just get a 2nd bag of equal size to what I have.
Between 2 bodies (both with grips), about 5 lens, 2 flash units and a ton of assorted goodies to go with it all, I wasn't sure if I wanted to carry all of that or not.
SO...I went with a Case Logic SLRC-206.  It is a backpack style with a handful of (I think) useful features. I decided to put one camera in each bag and split up the goodies between them.  Most likely, I will be taking both bags with me in the car, but only using one bag once out of the car and actually shooting.  Here is a link that shows what the bag looks like and the features of it.  The quick removal of the camera was a really nice feature to me.
There is a short video on the page that shows it pretty well.
Over all, I think this will be better (for my advanced age...) for me than one really huge bag.

Take your camera with you dammit. You can't take your next "best photo" if your camera is sitting at home in the bag, now can you?

I think that was wise.  It's hard to imagine a situation where you'd need both bodies and all 5 lenses and need to be mobile.  Don't get me wrong, it's easy to imagine situations where you'd want all your stuff, but considering weight and the hassles of changing lenses I think most of us pare down to only what we need for a given situation.  And like you say, putting two lighter bags in the car is hardly more difficult than putting one heavy bag in.  Enjoy your new toy!

Thanks Ocho.
Don't get me wrong: I wish I were younger and could heft around all that stuff in one large bag but I'm a few decades past that point.  ::)
After playing around with it (or faffing as those on the other side of the pond call it) for a while, I realize that I can put both bodies in here and remove excess lens, flashes, etc for those times (like an air show) that I need both bodies pre-loaded with one lens each. That kind of environment isn't conducive to switching out lens so I really DO want to have both bodies on me.  Thankfully, those are daylight shots only so I can leave a ton of 'accessories' out of the bag and just carry the 2 bodies instead.  I'll let ya know at the next air show I can get to. :)
