12mm & 25mm Canon Extension Tubes
« on: January 25, 2012, 02:14:27 PM »
Is there a reason to purchase both extension tubes?  Or do most people just purchase one of these if they want them?

Are they capable of stacking together?

Awesome, thank you sir.  I really appreciate it.  I found someone who'd sell me 'like new' 12mm & 25mm Canon tubes for $150, I'll have to do some more reading/research before making the decision.

Hi

For what it's worth I thought I'd share this, I bought these from Amazon and they seem to do the same thing at a fraction of the cost.  I know they probably don't do it in exactly the same way but may be worth a purchase to see how you get on before committing to the full cost of those?

Any way here's the link.

Good luck

Dave :)

Thanks Dave, I really do appreciate the info.  I've been reading a lot about some off brand type of tubes and trying to see what would be the best bet.  Thanks again!

I would get both, matter of fact I did.  Sometimes the 12mm will give you what you want, other times the 25mm.  I do use them with prime lenses though.  They will work with most zooms but I much prefer using prime lenses with extension tubes.

Yes, they do and I've used them that way.

I originally purchased Kenko tubes but when I received them I found out they don't have the contacts to allow the lens to communicate with the camera.  B&H gave me an RMA and I ordered the Canon 12 and 25mm tubes.  While you can work without the electronics it makes things so much simpler staying "within the system".

Here's a pic I took of my 5 week old Daughters eye with the tubes I got.

I agree no Camera Data is recorded but it still works.  You need a very sturdy tripod to get a good pic.
It did work in movie mode too but you have to start in a manual mode first then switch over to movie.  Otherwise it asks you to attach the lens.

Thought I'd share.

Thanks

Dave

Wow... super cool Dave.  I snapped a few pictures of things around my apartment and was impressed and glad I purchased them.

Thanks BBalzCO

Took me ages to get this shot, every time I got her in focus she moved, lol,

Guess you can't tell a 5 week old to hold still whilst Daddy holds a camera 2" from your face to take a picture, lol.

Dave :)
