Ereuter, could you suggest a simple photo I could take to try to replicate your problem. Landscape, trees, buildings?

Yes - it seems to be worst at 24mm and f/4 at the edge of the frame - like in my fist detail above.  If you could shoot something white with crisp edges at the edge in mid-day sun, that would be a good comparison.

Thanks for doing that.

Can you see any CA here. I couldn't get a shot with blue sky. It was actually raining a little. Both shots have their 100% crop.
Shot with the 24-105mm f/4L, 24mm focal length, f/4.0.

Not as much I seem to be getting.  Just a little under the word "pharmacy" on that last crop.  Thanks for this.  I am thinking I'll send this thing back.

I did a test; where I see the most CA is when taking trees with a bright sky behind. The test was done on the same tree, same conditions, ISO100, 1/400s, ƒ/5.6 200mm. The first picture, and crop, uses the 'kit' telephoto lens. The second uses an allegedly quality lens costing around $1,100. Like the original poster, I'm not terribly impressed with the lens I borrowed. What do you guys think?
