58mm Wide Angle Lens
« on: February 19, 2012, 01:33:12 AM »
Hi Guys

Just thought I'd share my new purchase.

It's a 58mm Wide Angle Lens converter which screw to the kits lens & similar.

I was a bit sceptical at first but for only £20 I thought I'd give it a go.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003VNF116/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details

I've uploaded 2 pics I've took using the kit lens and zoomed in full.

1 is without the converter and the other is.

I don't think the image is as sharp with the converter but you can see how much more image you get.
I was thinking this would be good for video.  When zoomed all the way out you do get a vignette effect.

Anyway thought I'd share :)

Dave

I love this adapters for one simple reason.  They are a great buy to try out something new.  Why spend hundreds of dollars on a fish eye lens, only to discover you don't like taking those types of pictures?  And there are some that produce some great pictures.  They are definitely some cool little gadgets to have in your bag.

Interesting...do you guys have any more sample pics of the benefits of using these type of converters? Does it messes with picture sharpness, color, chromatic aberration? Hmm...

I only borrowed a couple from a friend to see if I wanted a fish eye lens or not.
But no pictures.
You're adding another piece of glass on to your lens.  So you are going to lose sharpness.
