SOLD! Canon 7D
« on: February 21, 2012, 10:14:42 PM »
Price drop:

Looks like I had it a bit overpriced.  Changes are reflected below

Canon 7D body for sale...B&H price..$1699 minus $100 = $1599 My price...$1195
EF 17-40mm f4L lens......B&H price..$_797 minus $_60 = $_737 My price...$ 695 (with $55 Hoya SMC uv filter)

Total....$1890 includes PayPal fees, UPS ground lower 48, and insurance

The body has under 1000 (and I believe this includes video) shutter actuations (0895 as I type this), both items are cosmetically perfect and function fully and properly. This combination (body, lens, & filter) is weather sealed, I’ve had it out in moderate rain twice without any problems (I kept a towel in the truck and dried it off immediately upon getting back in). This lens is not for sale separately, if the body does not sell I want the lens to use with it; the body, however, I am willing to sell by itself at the "Mine" price above.

Read the reviews on B&H to see how others feel this gear works, I’ve enjoyed the camera and this lens is phenomenal in the hands of one who knows what he’s doing.

Video function is awesome. Both NTSC and PAL frame rates in one camera, dedicated video switch, and full manual settings on shutter, aperture, and ISO. I haven’t had the overheating problems some have reported, but I also do not try to run the camera for long periods of time. I’ve done mostly narrative stuff where once a scene is done there is another to setup and run through, so I shut cameras off to conserve battery power while doing that.

Both items come with original box and all accessories that were factory included in the box. Also included at no extra charge are two SanDisk Extreme IV 45MB/s 8GB Compact Flash cards (never had a lost or corrupted file) and a Giottos Schott Glass protector over the LCD (been there since the first week I had the camera so the LCD should have NO scratches or abrasions). I'll also "toss in" David Busch's well illustrated book "Canon EOS 7D", 473 pages of what the instruction manual should have been.

Reason for selling (and why shutter count is so low): At my age I’ve been using lighter gear (T2i, T3i, and 60D) so I just have not been using the 7D and L series lenses that much.

I pay PayPal fees, UPS ground shipping fees to lower 48, and insurance.

I can not believe that you are not getting any bites on this one. The 7D is a very nice camera and and Bif sure does seem to be a very credible seller. Hybrid has bought a used T2i from him in the past.

Well, it takes a really serious photographer to go for something like this.  If it doesn't sell for the price level I've set, I'll continue using it.  That 7D and 17-40 make one helluva bad weather camera, one of the things that caused me to go for it was a photo of one half buried in a snowbank on an island just south of the Antarctic Circle.

I've had this one out in the rain twice (gotta do it at least once just to see the look on folks faces) and just dried it off with a towel when I got back in the pickup.  So if I don't get any "bites" on it, I'll simply keep it.

I would love to grab this, but my bank account simply isn't there to handle it. And I think that is part of the reason it is still available as well. Who has $1200 laying around who also wants this camera and frequents this board? Limited options. As you noted though bif, if no one takes it, you can keep using it and toss it back on the market at a later date.

Well frankly it is a good price however if you know about the CLP then you know you can get a 90 day warrantied 7D for $1087 which has gone through a stringent QC check. The caveat? You must have a Canon body, any variant, with a valid serial number for trade. THAT is my highest price I will pay for a used Canon. Anything else must be lower than that.

Planning on doing my taxes and selling my T2i this week, depending on the turnout I might buy just the body from you.

I'd love to step up to the 7D and definitely wouldn't hesitate on buying from Bif. Sadly, like most people, it's bad timing lol. I close on my house mid-March and I just recently bought 3 different L lenses.... yeah too much money :x

A covetable camera. I would agree that Bif comes across as a reputable seller/good guy, so I would not hesitate on that standpoint ..

I tend to agree with Crasher7 on the pricing, but would also temper his pricing with the fact that you need to add on local sales tax to the CLP price, which brings it almost into a wash price wise for most areas.

Anyway, for somebody looking for a low count, well taken care of 7D, this sounds like a good specimen. I see myself being tempted by one in the coming months.

and a free "bump" to Bif

Wow!

Some nice comments here and I do appreciate them.

I've received a "nibble" this morning with an offer I can live with.  Sent that person a reply with my primary email address and am waiting to hear from him.

If it "goes" that will leave me with a 60D and some nice lenses.  Think I'll survive...

Final Price Drop On 7D Body
« Reply #9 on: March 02, 2012, 12:17:01 PM »
Well, looks like that "nibble" mentioned above didn't pan out so I'll offer a final price drop for the 7D body...

$1049 plus actual shipping.

If for some reason it doesn't sell I won't mind putting it back to work.

The lens got "snapped up" by a family member.

Sorry

But...At B&H it's actually about $60 less than I paid for it...

Through today, discount offer ends Mar 3rd (today).  They'll resume taking orders at 7:15PM.
