Yeah, the one ctwo linked to is the one I made and use.  It's pretty awesome and after over a year, I'm still using it for any steadicam related work/needs.

I just finished building one myself.

First most important thing you need to determine is what type of shooting you are planning on using this for.

The over the shoulder type rigs seem to have the greatest results from all the DIY's that I have seen.  However they are not always the best for all shooting.

For my purposes I wanted something that i could get down low as i would be shooting my 12month old son often.

I actually ended up building 2 models.  One is more of a cage that i can hold the camera from above for the low follow shots and the second is modeled after the Merlin.

I would say the Merlin and over the shoulder are the 2 most popular rigs though.

Both of mine are made of PVC.

You should be able to find LOTS of DIY PVC camera rigs on youtube and vimeo.

Hi,
I´ve been looking in a lot of sites about DIY Stabilizers,
I am thinking about building a stabilizer like the one Ryan's shown.
Which one is better the one with just the vertical tube or your´s?

Thank you very much!
Daniel
