DIY bounce flash using stock flash?
« on: January 03, 2012, 01:17:45 PM »
Has anyone got a cool trick to use the factory Canon flash but redirect the flash upwards like a bounce flash? I used to play around with tin foil believe it or not and it somewhat worked..

Any one have done something like this?

There's a product called a Lightscoop that attaches to your hotshoe.  It's a mirror that throws your on camera flash straight up.

http://www.lightscoop.com/

I've never tried this....can't comment....but for $30 it might be work trying.  It's gotta be better than shooting the flash straight at the subject.  But remember that the on camera flash is not very powerful.  This would probably only work with low white ceilings, my guess.

If you do buy it, report back.

I own the Lightscoop and I freakin' love it. As long as your ceiling is between 8-10ft. tall you should do fine.
Also check out my DIY solution I did way before buying the Lightscoop. But I recommend the Lightscoop! It does limit you when you want to take vertical pictures. Here's the thread: http://www.t2iforum.com/photo-specific-general-discussion/diy-cheap-diffuser-sample-pics/msg9639/#msg9639
