HELP!!!
« on: February 20, 2012, 05:29:19 PM »
Hey guys,

Just got my T2i today...but I think I'm having a problem with it. Is there any sort of drop detection sensor built into the t2i? Cause whenever I make a sudden movement, it shuts down and restarts...any idea why this is happening, and can I turn it off? Sometimes it makes the camera very difficult to use.

Thanks,
Ben

Sounds almost like you have a loose connection somewhere, is the battery door shut completely? This is not normal behavior as far as I know.
One time, this guy handed me a picture of him, he said,"Here's a picture of me when I was younger." Every picture is of you when you were younger. "Here's a picture of me when I'm older." How'd you pull that off? Lemme see that camera... what's it look like? -Mitch Hedberg

Battery door is closed tight...can't figure this out. Sometimes it won't even turn on without me shaking it a bit...this is really frustrating...

If you got that locally, I would be going back instantly. That definitely doesn't sound right. Not at all.
If not local, send it back first thing in the morning. It would suck being without it, but you shouldn't put up with that problem.
Good luck!

I notice when I take a picture, it doesn't show me the picture it took, until I move (again, or so it seems). I have my camera set to 2 minutes and then it "shuts down". What is yours set to?

I only use my Canon Rebel Digital T2i. I have a 18-55 and  55-250 kit, 50mm 1.8 lens, DHD 0.45 x super wide angle lens with macro, a macro close up set, a Fotodiox Macro extension tube set kit and UV, Circular, and florescent lens.

Yeah, I'm so reluctant to return it already...it *is* refurb, so in theory it was well inspected by Adorama before it was sent out. My auto power down is set to 2 minutes also...

So I just tried shooting some more test pictures, and (while it said full battery, it's had a full battery all day) it shuts down mid shutter click. Then I flip it back on and it says "change the battery pack"

Has the battery just not been showing a proper reading all day? Or is there another problem?

Just put the battery in to recharge now...we'll see what happens...

Sometimes I experience something like that. I press the button and it clicks the picture, but it takes a good 5 or so seconds before it finishes processing and releases the shutter. I'm not sure if it's a setting I have it on and it just takes a bit longer for the picture taking to process or what. But rarely happens. My battery might be low then again.

COULD be a defective battery too. That would cause those problems. Might you have a spare battery to try, or can you at least borrow one from someone to test it??
I'm sure the camera was tested but who knows what kind of battery they threw at you in the deal.

Very true...a friend of mine has a t2i and I can try his battery tomorrow...
I think the shutter thing was just a low battery, shutting off to conserve power cause it didn't even process the picture

any other ideas?? I really hate to send this awesome camera back...

No, that's not right. And if you're going to return it, it's better to do it sooner rather than later - if you leave it until later it looks like it's something you did, instead of a problem that was there from the start. More than likely this one is a lemon that the original owner chose to trade in.

Adorama does a really good job of checking products, and I trust they didn't send me a bad one...does this happen with any of your cameras? give it a good few shakes side to side and see if it shuts off

So my battery's done "charging" already...does that seem odd to anyone?
It says it's green, so I don't know..should I take it off the charger?

That's why I think the battery is defective and not the camera. If you can borrow your friends battery, that will go a LONG way in determining what you should do next.
Good luck.
