Definitely sounds like a battery problem, no way should you be getting a full charge in 29 minutes... Try another one and see what happens!

I shook the camera back and forth a bit and it turned right on...I have no idea if the looseness is on the battery's end or the camera's end...

It turns off pretty consistently when I turn the camera sideways...

No, that's not right; in which case, "+1" to what Doodle said...

Haha, I've had it happen before...I bought a JVC camera awhile back where one of the outputs was broken, and they replaced it with a camera that costs $200 more! It was awesome...anyway, we'll see what I can do about this...a 60d would be nice :)

I called Adorama, and after a few attempts...I was not able to get an upgrade. But I did convince them to give me one day shipping, and they're sending out a brand new one as soon as they receive the return.

PS, it definitely was the battery...my friend's battery worked perfectly, must've been a mess up in the manufacturing process. But they're replacing the entire camera, which is nice (there was also a slight imperfection on the lens)...

tsk tsk to Adorama, I hope they're able to regain my trust with this replacement.

I'll keep you all posted... sending it back tomorrow.

Sometimes I experience something like that. I press the button and it clicks the picture, but it takes a good 5 or so seconds before it finishes processing and releases the shutter. I'm not sure if it's a setting I have it on and it just takes a bit longer for the picture taking to process or what. But rarely happens. My battery might be low then again.

That sounds like you are on AV mode. You've chosen your aperture, and the camera chooses the shutter speed. When you get where there is less light...the shutter speed goes WAAAAYYY up. It's annoying.

That could be what is happening there.  ;)

I just noticed rpavich's answer... could it also be that you're in live view mode? If the mirror is up, it has to use contrast optimisation to figure out the focus; that takes a long time! You might have it set on quick focus, but if the mirror is not giving the phase sensor sight of the image, it can't do anything  ::)

No, it was none of those problems...the battery just died mid-shutter. It was definitely the battery issue, I sent it back today, let's see what happens...I'll let you all know whether to trust Adorama customer service...

Well I received the replacement camera today, everything seems to be in good working order. Here's the review I wrote on Reseller Ratings explaining the whole experience:

"I purchased a refurbished Canon T2i camera from Adorama, I ordered it on Friday and by the end of the day it had shipped. I received it Monday afternoon (note, this was the free shipping option "7-10 days") so that was a great plus. Unfortunately when I received the camera, there was an issue with the battery. This was a manufacturer's defect, so I don't blame Adorama. There was also a tiny little mark on the lens. I called them the next day and they agreed to replace it with a new item, with one day shipping, so I'm happy about that. I sent it back to them and they received it on Thursday. They did not, however, ship the new product until Monday...I was a little disappointed about this, so I called them. They agreed to give me a $15 store credit for all the trouble/delay. I received it on Tuesday and it seems to be in perfect working order. They also sent me an extra battery, not sure if this was on purpose or not, but it was a nice gift. Overall, their customer service handled the issue fairly well, and when I expressed my dissatisfaction, they resolved the problem up to my standards. I'd order from them again, but only if they offer a really good price, otherwise I'd stick with Amazon or B&H. It wasn't terrible, but it *did* take awhile to get a good product."

Awesome, glad you got that all fixed. Nice that they added the battery in too.
One time, this guy handed me a picture of him, he said,"Here's a picture of me when I was younger." Every picture is of you when you were younger. "Here's a picture of me when I'm older." How'd you pull that off? Lemme see that camera... what's it look like? -Mitch Hedberg
