Hi from Toronto
« on: January 14, 2012, 02:20:33 PM »
Hello
i started Photography in high school.i own quite a bit of Darkroom equipment (black and white) just recently started using a DSLR.i had a used 300d but my nephew jammed the CF card in backwards and broke a few pins  :(
i mostly use the camera for Astronomy.i own a few telescopes and have modified a few web-cams,but i don't want to haul the laptop around with me.
i have a Tablet and am thinking about purchasing a beta android app that will allow me to remote the camera with it.
anyway, hoping to learn a lot about this camera in the near future.

Welcome to the forum, nwyoung!

We always dig seeing some astronomy shots so don't be shy about showing them. Also, if you did get that android app be sure to tell us how you like it. I was looking at one that you had to use bluetooth for but I didn't go for it. I still might at some point as I really like the idea of having that full control remote but we will see.
I'm an old film guy just playing catchup in this digital world. Help me out.

Hello nmyoung. You can probably see me with your telescope. I'm just down the QEW in Niagara. There are many very friendly members here. Welcome and enjoy the forum.

Thanks for the welcomes.
i grabbed a free app that uses my laptop as a wifi hub between my camera and my Tablet it's called ..Remote your cam wifi light.
this way i can leave the laptop inside the house and remote the camera to take pictures like these  below.
Works like a charm!  :)
i have almost full control,if you want full control you have to purchase the full version.the light will do me well to start.
the Beta app im really interested  in (just plug and play)  i cant get as the Android market wont recognise my Tablet as a 3.0 (long story).

Welcome!  Just like craig im not far off.  im in Brantford.  ive been making feeble attempts for astronomy pics with my 300 mm lens but its really difficult.  Very impressive shot of Jupiter   very jealous!!  it mustbe hard getting clear nights in the GTA with all of the light pollution.  Do you have many other astro pics that you can post?
