Extension Tubes and what the what?
« on: February 14, 2012, 08:52:41 AM »
Hi Guys, my hubby bought me a Fotodiox extension tube for my Bday ( he wanted to get me gadgets for my new camera) and I have no clue how to use it or what you all use it for mainly. I know it's for close up shots, but he acts like it's not for taking pictures of people or landscapes etc?

I only use my Canon Rebel Digital T2i. I have a 18-55 and  55-250 kit, 50mm 1.8 lens, DHD 0.45 x super wide angle lens with macro, a macro close up set, a Fotodiox Macro extension tube set kit and UV, Circular, and florescent lens.

it's only for macro shooting with your lens.

put your extension tube between your t2i's and your lenses mount. it should be 3 part right? how much longer tube more close focusing distance. for a while if you want to take a bug photo you should use 3 parts of your extension tube. because you need zoom and short focusing distance. this photo is kenko extension tube with tmrom lens

Thanks Crocs, this is what I have. I can get the tube on the camera, but am struggling with that screwy thing you see on the tube. No directions as to how to get the lens on this thing. Help? Yes, I think it's a 3 art, so I will try again to get some of the tube off to try different lengths.

this high definition zoom part is wrong part to use. yu should use lenses that you are using in normal times like 18-55 lens. And if you want you can put your 0.45x lens to 18-55 lenses mount. if you want i can add photos that taken with different lenght extension tubes

Oooo, good to know.  Thanks for clearing that up. I know that macro is for close up ( in case I didn't say it). If you get time ( no rush) I'd love to see some pics that were taken at different lengths.

Holy awesomeness! Those are great pictures you guys! Soooo jealous!

I think this tube hubby got me was only like $15.00 or something. I just about fell off my chair a minute ago, because I saw at amazon.com they had a tube for like $179.00. I must have a piece of junk? lol

the expensive ones transmit  the focus and f/stop info to the lens, the cheap ones do not.
