Have fun learning your camera first, do simple cropping & white balance etc but don't try to learn both together. I started and stopped as it caused untold problems with the learning curve. I gave it 8 months then started on the post processing.
I once prayed to God for a camera, but quickly found out he didn't work that way.... so I stole a camera and prayed for his forgiveness.

CAMERAS - Canon 550D | Canon Ixus 120 IS | Panasonic FZ7
LENSES - EF-S 15 - 85mm | EF-S 18 - 55mm | EF-S 55 - 250mm | EF 50mm f/1.8 II prime
ACCESSORIES - Manfrotto 190XPROB Tripod | Giotto MML3270B Monopod | YN-465 Flash | Lowepro Fastpack 100 Rucsack
SOFTWARE - Picasa 3 | Photoshop Elements 9 | Photomatix 4.0 | Lightroom 3 with Topaz Plug-ins

Camerafreak...

Even though Snapper said that manual isn't the way to go just now for you...I think it would do you good to play with it.

Here is a video I made showing the "Exposure Triangle" in action....

if you have questions...just ask. I made a few mistakes in calling ISO aperture once, but overall I think it's easy to follow.

How to get a good exposure for Camerafreak

Awesome! So the meter is "The Bible"? If the meter is in the middle, most of the time, it will be a good picture? I knew the needle had to be in the middle, I think I was confusing myself with other things though. I think even now, at age 42, I'm still the kind of learner that is "Audio and Visual". lol

Thanks soooo much!

I only use my Canon Rebel Digital T2i. I have a 18-55 and  55-250 kit, 50mm 1.8 lens, DHD 0.45 x super wide angle lens with macro, a macro close up set, a Fotodiox Macro extension tube set kit and UV, Circular, and florescent lens.

Oh and when you change one setting something else has to be changed, right?

yes...think of them as "in balance" when the needle is centered.

When you take some weight OFF of the ISO...you have to add that weight somewhere else to get the thing to balance!

I hope that you knew I was kidding...I have a lot of respect for your knowledge and my dry humor sometimes doesn't translate to the printed screen.
