I did it!! I finally got a sharp pic!! At a mean crop size too!
« on: January 14, 2012, 04:47:33 AM »
I was testing out my new strobes / softboxes and of course at this time of the morning...I'm the only one up besides the puppies.

So....they became my subjects.

I was going through the photos....ho hum...same old stuff until I saw this one....it's sharp!! Finally!

So I did a really agressive crop to see how it would hold up ala berries-in-the-back-yard-discussion and it did!!

Check it out!

Here is the crop....

And here is the result

Congratulations!!  ;)

Now see what sort of detail you can get with that new macro lens. You might have to nail him down first though!  ;D

Thanks guys...I'm really excited!

I just spent the better part of an hour photographing water drops and vegetable oil in water with my new macro lens...when I get anything decent, I'll post.

Yay!! I CAN do it...!

I know that sounds corny but I was really beginning to think that it wasn't possible...

That is impressive. You for sure nailed that one. Now all that will do is make you feel like you failed for every picture you take for the rest of you life. ;)

I just saw the umbrella in his eye.  A nice catchlight!

Thank you Bgray!

I bought a cheap umbrella and stand from Cowboy studios for hauling, and a nicer stand and softbox from Neewer for home...

Like Skippy said...now if I could just do this every time!  :o

Nice shot man, now I know it's not impossible to get a sharp shot with a 50 1.8

Sfyn..
it is possible....lol...I had been wondering also.

I KNOW it was my camera shake...I've been taking flash shots lately and have produced several of those with the 50mm.

I'm glad it was just me and not the lens.  ;)

That is a really, really nice pic!!!!

The lighting makes it look like a picture straight out of the Pottery Barn brochure!!!!!!!

What were the settings on the camera? Fast shutter speed? High ISO? Were you using a tripod?
