Ring of Fire eclipse tonight
« on: May 20, 2012, 04:22:42 PM »
I'll be able to see it.  Do I dare try to photo it without ruining my camera sensors?  There are some trees around, which I can try to use as natural filters.  Any suggestions?

I'm going to try but I'll use a variable ND filter to cut down the light some and use a fast shutter.
If you hear me sniveling tomorrow you'll know what happened.

Probably you and me both will be crying tomorrow.  I don't have a ND filter, but do have a couple of old polarization filters, which I might try holding in front of my lens.  Think that would work?

Tried anyway.  No photos to post, nothing turned out.  Maybe 20yrs or so from now, the next time it's available, I will be prepared.

The great Johnny Cash wrote his song about the "Ring of Fire", referring to what some of us just saw last night.  Maybe I'm wrong-but that is what I heard about his song.

It refers to June Carter's love for Johnny Cash during his drug addiction and alcoholism.
Of course there are "other" meanings for the phrase.
