Spent the Weekend in LA...
« on: February 20, 2012, 08:11:00 PM »
We had a trade show last weekend in LA.

Unfortunately, I didn't really have any significant spare time for photography, but I got a couple of shots from inside and around the hotel....

Comments welcome!

I like all of these shots. Color and composure is pretty good.

Constructive Criticism:
-HDR Photo needs to be straightened out a bit. I noticed it was a bit of kilter cause of all the straight lines.
-I would have liked the reflections of the house to be on the bottom edge of the frame and see more of the sky. Thats just me.

Great photos, thanks for sharing.

Cool pictures! Makes me want to go on vacation again like tomorrow!!

What hotel is that?

Is the 1st picture of a golf course?

So does LA (or Cali in general) have little geckos runnin' around all over the place like some places in Florida does? lol

It's sooooo strange to see that, but oh so cool! I live in MN so we never ever see that of course. My daughter and I always try to catch one when we're in Florida.   ;D  I'm sure we look like we're crazy as hell.

I only use my Canon Rebel Digital T2i. I have a 18-55 and  55-250 kit, 50mm 1.8 lens, DHD 0.45 x super wide angle lens with macro, a macro close up set, a Fotodiox Macro extension tube set kit and UV, Circular, and florescent lens.

Those first two really do it for me. Your HDR processing is light-years ahead of what most people produce.

The hotel is the Manhattan Beach Marriot.

The 1st is the golf course right behind the hotel.

Thanks!

Thanks a lot!  I give a lot of credit to Trey Ratcliff's course.  It cost less than $100, but probably the best $100 that I've spent in photography.  Dare I say the money spent on that course was better spent than my nifty fifty?  Yes, I'd say so.  :)

Great shots as ever, bgray!

It might be just me who doesn't sit straight when looking at my computer, but the indoor shot looks to be leaning slightly to the right?  :-\  Not enough to spoil the photo but just enough to grab my attention.  ;)
Sometimes I find it really difficult to concentr......  ooooooh! a butterfly!!!!

Great shots bgray.  That first one is a Golf magazines cover shot if I ever saw one. All of them are great but that first one blew me away.  (and made me sigh because we can't golf here for another month ??? )

Thanks, and I see the alignment too.  It really bothers me when I work hard on a photo, and then later the alignment is off.  And I did adjust the alignment.....I think that sometimes I need to finish processing a photo, and then come back to it later with fresh eyes before finalizing everything.  I swear....I thought I had it nailed, but now I see it leaning!

Thanks so much!  I'm back home in Ohio now, so yes, I miss the 70 degree weather that I had over the weekend!
