Just figured I would share a few photos I took last week at the aquarium. Yes... I went to the aquarium and took pictures of birds, ducks and squirrels. [Our aquarium has 2 sections and I stuck to one side for that day]
These were shot with my 70-200 F/4 L. It was a shaded area but for the most part the lighting was decent. Pulled off my FB account since I don't have my laptop with me today [uploaded as HQ so we'll see how the image quality really looks]
So now a little history on the pictures:
Location: Virginia Aquarium
The first picture is of a bird that was far from shy. It was feeding time and she was quick on the draw to come up on the railing to get fed. I was standing approx. two feet from her as she was just waiting for food.
Distance: 2 feet max
The next picture was taken of a typical duck, but his coloring was so vibrant and the water was somewhat greenish, there was only one way to not kill his coloring - isolate it.
Distance: 6-8 feet
The last picture of the squirrel was probably the most fun I've had "chasing" an animal. This little guy was on a mission to make it difficult for me to get his picture. He knew I wanted it, and he was going to make me work for it. Finally after numerous attempts he hung around and let me take a few shots. Having the picture cropped, you can clearly see the softness when zoomed all the way out. If I were good enough at PS, I would have taken out that branch the runs through the middle of his body. Instead, I just cropped the photo.
Distance - 8-10 feet
