Old FD lenses on Rebel T2i/550D
« on: February 18, 2012, 05:32:17 PM »
Hi everyone,

This is my first posting here. The video below is some test footage we shot with old FD lenses attached to our Canon Rebel T2i/550D. We were pretty impressed with the results these lenses gave us.

Thanks for watching!

Beautiful... really beautifully shot, especially the women at the start.
is it the lens that creates the slight aged effect?
gonna have to look into an fd lens (dont know a thing about them)

Hi Jack,

Thanks for your kind words!

Yes, the FD lenses do give that "retro" look. They are slightly softer than the modern digital counterparts, especially with the aperture wide open (it's way too soft then) so you do lose a stop with them, but considering how much cheaper they are than modern primes, we think it's worth it.

You can pick up cheap FD lenses on ebay - just do a search for canon fit FD lenses.

We did a post on our blog about them it some time back...

If you get some FD lenses, we'd love to check out your test shots too!

All the best,
Ian and Dominic
