Killer DIY light-tent for macro with photos and video.

This is a killer little mini-lesson on taking product shots with a homemade-$10.00-or-less-light-tent with pictures and a video.

Coincidentally I had seen the same link a while ago and wanted to try building one of these light boxes. It was cheap and easy - a cardboard box, some tissue paper, masking tape, and a piece of poster board. I used a tripod and two triggered strobes.  After some trial and error experimentation, I was very pleased with the end results. I was taking pictures of anything that would sit still and fit in the box - from bananas to bullets! I'll try and post some of the better ones in the photos section.

Wow!!  I totally want to make one of these.

I do have a question though:  can I still use something like this even though I don't have flashes?  I think I have some bright desk lamps laying around somewhere, lol!!

Thanks again for the post!

Yep!

Bgray or someone has a thread here about that and he uses lamps to great effect...I just use strobes because I'm trying to learn them.

I would love to get my hands on a flash or two, but unfortunately I can't right now.  Only reason I was able to purchase my smexy T2i was because I have excellent tax people, lol!!!  Doodle gave me an idea to start putting change away for equipment.  I am going to start doing that, lol! :D

I try to put at least $20 a week from my pay into a savings account that is solely used for photography. Sometimes it will be more, just depending on how things shake out that week.

TOTALLY agree, even if it's only 5  bucks a week, depending on a persons budget. Even 5 bucks a week adds up when you just do it and forget about it, however 20 is 4 times faster.  ;)

I use an old cash bag from a bank and throw all of our change at the end of every day into it. It fills up rather quickly and when it gets full enough I cash it in. We then split it in half since its wife's too. That is just mad money with no set purpose so I usually get something for the camera from that. A coffee can would work if I drank coffee I suppose. LOL

*that mac fund is my part time job...look out summer!!  8)

Hahahaha!  I say I want a Mac, but I just don't know anymore.  Adding that 10GB of ram helped the speed so now I don't have too many issues.  I just need to upgrade the vid card and calibrate my monitor.  I might make my pc LOOK like a Mac tho!  Of course the last time I did that, Bertha got mad at me and stopped working.  She's so tempermental!
